Marsh Environmental undertook the Phase 1 Ecology survey of the first 17km section of the Royal Military Canal proposed cycle route from Aldergate Bridge, Hythe to Appledore Bridge, East to West. We are now preparing to undertake a Phase 1 survey of the section from Appledore to Iden Lock with recommendations for Phase 2/Protected Species Surveys.
The Royal Military Canal is a Scheduled Ancient Monument that follows the ancient shoreline below the AONB of the Hythe escarpment. It then continues past the villages of Bilsington, Ruckinge, Hamstreet, Warehorne and Appledore. From Appledore it passes across the mouth of the High Weald valley to Ebony and across the Rother valley to Iden Lock. Here it follows the river Rother to Rye passing below the escarpment of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AONB).
Marsh Environmental Consultants have been involved in a number of large and small projects providing ecological surveys and ecological consultancy. Below you will find a selection of case studies and projects that we have been involved with. Please click on find out more to read more.
